·        He emigrated to the U.S. in 1970 and became a naturalized U. S. citizen in 1990.
·        Upon completing his Ph.D (1978, University of Tennessee, Knoxville) on tectonics and sedimentation of the Ordovician Appalachians, he joined Mobil Oil Company in Dallas, Texas (retired 2000).
·        As an adjunct professor at Univ. Texas at Arlington, he taught sedimentology and stratigraphy courses during 2003-2004.
·        He is a pragmatic and an iconoclastic deep-water process sedimentologist. However, his research covers a broad spectrum of domains.
·        Consultant on Core studies (2004-2010): Reliance Industries Ltd., Mumbai (India)
·        Scientific Advisor on Research (2010-2011): PetroChina, Beijing (China)
·        He has 350 published works, including two volumes of Elseviers Handbook of Petroleum Exploration and Production (2006 and 2012). Both books were translated into Chinese and republished in 2015 by Elsevier. His publications can be downloaded from ResearchGate.
·        He is an Associate Editor-in-Chief of the  Journal of Palaeogeography  (Elsevier) and an editorial Member of the journal  Petroleum Exploration and Development  (Elsevier).
·        He celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary with his American wife Jean in 2016.
